Both Charles and Emma, together with adopted son Louis Jack Balls and his wife Irene Edith (nee Barker) died as result of enermy action. The bomb one of only a few dropped on Leicester, fell on 14th September 1940 on the bungalow at 59 Ireton Road which went with the formans job at the Brickworks.
